Viña Leyda stands out with excellent scores in James Suckling’s latest 2019 report

Viña Leyda stands out with excellent scores in James Suckling’s latest 2019 report

"The results were recently released for James Suckling’s latest report entitled “Chile’s Tale of Two Cities” in which he awarded outstanding scores for the wines of Leyda – pioneer of the valley which bears the same name."

In his most recent visit to Chile, the renowned US critic, James Suckling, tasted a total of 1,200 wines produced throughout the country from the coast to the mountains. On this occasion, the co-editor and critic’s son, Jack Suckling, described how Chile is currently “placing on the world’s finest rankings with balanced, structured Cabernet Sauvignon as well as Syrah and Pinot Noir which are subtle but full of flavor”.

On this occasion, the expert awarded 93 points to Leyda Lot 21 Pinot Noir 2017, which was described as follows:

Furthermore, Leyda Single Vineyard Las Brisas Pinot Noir 2017 stood out with 92 points and was described as a wine with "a striking nose of raspberries, cherries, and dried herbs. Sleek yet well structured on the palate and a long, complex finish with some mineral freshness.

Finally, Leyda Reserva Pinot Noir 2018 was evaluated with 91 points and the following tasting note:

"Fragrant with a ton of floral and sour-cherry aromas, this is a really delicious, fresh pinot noir with good depth, but modest tannins and a long, fresh finish".

These outstanding scores for Viña Leyda wines demonstrate the freshness, minerality, and vitality from one of the closest vineyards to the Pacific Ocean.
