Tomás Rivera es nombrado Viticultor Chileno del Año por Tim Atkin
Nos enorgullece compartir con ustedes que el Master of Wine de renombre mundial, Tim Atkin, ha elegido a Tomás Rivera de Viña Leyda como Viticultor Chileno del Año para 2022.
Este anuncio surge del último informe de Tim Atkin sobre la industria vitivinícola chilena. Los informes de Atkin son muy influyentes en todo el mundo, porque considera factores geográficos y climáticos específicos para evaluar lo mejor del vino chileno. Dados los altos estándares a los que Atkin responde, no nos sorprende que haya elegido al propio viticultor de Leyda, Tomás Rivera, como su viticultor del año.
El potencial futuro de Tomás en la vitivinicultura fue evidente desde una temprana edad: de niño pasó gran parte de su tiempo en el campo chileno de San Clemente, Talca, antes de estudiar en la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, donde se especializó en producción de frutas. Rivera se unió a nuestro viñedo en 2012 y desde entonces se ha hecho experto en sustentabilidad y microterruños. Sus innovaciones más notables incluyen el uso de recursos naturales como el viento para evitar el uso de productos químicos agresivos. También es parte de nuestro “Programa de Sostenibilidad 360”, realizando estudios detallados en nuestro suelo y ayudándonos a encontrar la mejor expresión de cada uva, respetando como siempre nuestro compromiso sostenible.
En Leyda, Tomás ha trabajado junto a nuestra Enóloga Jefe, Viviana Navarrete, quien también fue nombrada “Enóloga del Año” por Tim Atkin en 2020, durante los últimos diez años. Juntos, los dos se han hecho conocidos como el "Golden Duo", complementando su experiencia entre ellos y logrando más que cualquier otro equipo en el país. Bajo su liderazgo, Leyda ha obtenido excelentes resultados, manteniendo su lugar como la viña costera más premiada de Chile y recibiendo grandes elogios de los críticos más importantes del vino, como Tim Atkin.
