CARMENERE, Tolhuen Vineyard
Colchagua Valley
Carmenere Talhuen Vineyard is located in El Huique, in the heart
of Colchagua Valley. The vines are planted uphill which creates great
exposure to sunlight and optimum temperatures for ripening. The poor
and rocky soil helps to achieve a balanced growth and a low yield
production and therefore full flavoured and concentrated grapes.
The harvest is done late in April or even May, in order to obtain
the right ripeness of the skins, but taking care of keeping the spiciness
and the fresh black fruity character of the Carmenere.
The wine is aged in American and French oak barrels for 12 months
before bottling.
Carmenere Talhuen Vineyard is a complex and elegant wine, with a
classic nose that combines blackberries, black pepper, spices and
a hint of leather. On the palate is wide and opulent, with sweet tannins
and a bright acidity.
