The vineyards are located at the coastal mountain range of Chile,
in the recently discovered Leyda Valley, about 12 kilometers from the Pacific
Ocean, 40 kilometres from Casablanca and 90 km west of Santiago.
Its closeness to the sea makes it a unique spot for viticulture. The cool conditions during spring and summer, due to maritime
influence and summer breezes, make it an extraordinary good areafor
varieties such as Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah and Riesling.
A recent law passed by the authorities has appointed Leyda Valley
as a new wine valley appellation within the San Antonio province.
Traditionally, Leyda has been an area of natural pasture lands and
basic crops such as wheat and barley. This is very representative
of the dry farming of the West Coast mountain range. In 1997, after
evaluating the potential conditions of the area, an important investment
was made to take water from the Maipo River through an eight kilometre
pipeline to the valley.
